Much like her character, Kelly Taylor, on Aaron Spelling’s decade long series Beverly Hills 90210, Jennie Garth’s real life has been filled with many highs and many lows, which she shares in her tell-all biography, “Deep Thoughts From a Hollywood Blonde”.
Before meeting with fans at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, Garth revealed to Glancer Magazine that while writing the book, it was important for her to not make it about other people’s short comings, but rather to make it an introspective look at her own participation in her life and how that shaped who she has become.
Although her experiences on the set of 90210 created some profound connections between the on-set actors, which she shares very openly in her book, she would have to pause for thought if one of her own daughters, ages 7, 11, and 16 decided to drop out of school and want to move to Hollywood like she did.
“As a mother that scares me,” Garth shares. “I think it’s individually based – based on the child, and requires a lot of family support.” The intimate book reveals some of her deepest fears and self-doubts, including her transformation from a teen beauty to a single mother, and discloses her biggest insecurity. “Talking about relationships is probably my most vulnerable area, especially coming out of a 17 year marriage and starting over at 40,” she says. “But I think people will also discover that I am kind of funny and have many hidden talents, like I can drive a 40’ RV!”
The book reveals surprising details from her personal and professional life.
