7 Spectacular Springtime Events Around Town
With the winter months behind us and spring here to stay, it's time to head outdoors and take advantage of the beautiful weather and this means all the great events that our community has to offer! From Easter egg hunts full of fun, to kite flying that will be fun for the whole family, there is so much to do and see this season. HERE'S OUR LIST OF 7 SPECTACULAR SPRINGTIME EVENTS AROUND TOWN…

1. 2nd Annual Go Fly a Kite! • Saturday, April 17
Come out and help the City of Wheaton break last year's record of 800 kites in the air simultaneously. Registration begins at 9am - lift off is at 11am. Bring your own kite or purchase a special Go Fly a Kite commemorative kite. The Chicago Fire Kite Team will perform a demonstration and coordinate a number of kite flying activities as well. www.wheatonparkdistrict.com

2. Celebrate Spring, Celebrate Easter
Saturday, April 3

Sponsored by the Downtown Wheaton Association, this annual family event is one you don't want to miss. Festivities include an Easter egg hunt, egg roll contest, bonnet decorating contest and more! 3. Eggs-trordinary Egg Hunt! • Friday, April 2
It's an all new egg hunt experience at beautiful Lake Ellyn! Children up to the age of 8 are invited to this crazy egg hunt with a chance to meet the Easter Bunny and take a picture with him in the Lake Ellyn Boat House following the hunt! Event will take place from 10-10:30am. Registration required. www.gepark.org

4. Cantigny Park - "Night at the Mansion" Sleepover
Friday, April 3
Have you ever wondered what happens in Cantigny Park at night? Find out during this family overnight program. Kids ages 5-10, along with their parents, can grab their sleeping bags and enjoy special flashlight tours, kids' crafts, snacks and a movie shown in Robert McCormick's historic Gold Theatre. 5. 2010 Arbor Day Celebration • Friday, April 30
The City of Wheaton's Forestry Division and the Environmental Improvement Commission will visit Washington Elementary School, 911 Bridle Lane, to celebrate Arbor Day with the students. Set to begin at 9:30am, the ceremony will include a celebration of Wheaton's status as a Tree City USA and the planting of a new tree for the school. www.wheaton.il.us

6. Downtown Glen Ellyn Couples Night • Friday, April 30
Sponsored by the Downtown Glen Ellyn Alliance, Couple's Night Out is returning again this year on April 30. Locals will get the chance to head out on the town for an evening of shopping, dining, drinks, live entertainment, great specials and more! www.downtownglenellyn.com

6. "Steelroots" Exhibition Debut • April 9 - January 31
"Steelroots: Tobin at The Morton Arboretum," are 14 monumental sculptures - up to 40 ft. high - from the contemporary artist, Steve Tobin. His abstract tree root sculptures seem to burst forth from the earth where they can be seen, to connect visitors with the importance of trees in the environment as well as the metaphorical power of roots.
