A FAVORITE TO SO MANY
Offering a classic American menu in a restaurant that feels like a Wisconsin Supper Club, Raymes has been around for 37 years. Although open since 1974, Jerri Reynolds and Gary Nolan purchased the restaurant in 2009 and, though subtle, they have made some changes, such as adding white linen tablecloths, updating artwork, and improving the menu. "We have updated the menu to include a much higher quality of meat and offer a better product," Reynolds said, "though we are still home of the king-size cocktail." With 62 seats in the dining room and 13 seats at the bar, the restaurant offers quaint, personal service as the owners are on premise almost daily. "This is a very friendly atmosphere. Everyone goes out of their way to make people feel welcome. We know about people getting married, who is having babies, and we have a very small town feel," says 18-year employee Jeannine Durocher. "We are very much a steakhouse with big cocktails and a basic menu that we do well; we don't need over-the-top sauces and dips. Just basic [food] that's done well." The restaurant is known for their BBQ ribs and runs specials on the weekends to keep the menu fresh and exciting. Reynolds' personal favorite menu selection is the grouper, offered with a horse radish or parmesan crust. -Kristen Kucharski
