The Glen Ellyn mother of three is a pediatrician who serves as the assistant medical director of the pediatric emergency department at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She had told friends at Children's Memorial Hospital that she would be willing to go to Haiti to help with emergency medical care for victims of the earthquake. This is her story of motherhood and heartfelt generosity combined with human compassion.

Having moved to Naperville from Ottawa, IL with his family when he was just 13-years-old, Mike Bakos has planted his roots here. TERRIFIC TEACHER: Mike Kennedy of Neuqua Valley High School
Neuqua Valley High School teacher Mike Kennedy had lunch with one of his former students last summer who "is pursuing a PhD in biophysics and doing a really interesting project. He basically is trying to build a hard drive for the brain," says the proud teacher. Kennedy teaches Honors and Advanced Placement Physics and frequently hears from the students who thank him for getting them started on the path to their advanced education. "I even heard from one student who wished he had worked harder in my class," he says.
