ST. PATRICK’S DAY

Thanks for covering St. Patrick’s Day events and such. I’m super Irish and our family moved here from the city, where we always celebrated St. Patrick’s Day...rain or shine! I was afraid the suburbs wouldn't have as many options. After reading the March issue, I see there are plenty! Thank you. - M. Moran, Naperville

MORE INFORMATION PLEASE
I hear there is a new Comedy Club downtown Naperville. Is this true and if so, can you provide some information in the next issue? Thanks!
- Brenda Meyer, Lisle

Editor’s Note: The Comedy Shrine is Naperville's first improvisational comedy troupe that performs Thurs-Sat nights. Check out pg. 43 for more information. Thanks for asking!

TAKING A STAND
Can you tell me how I can reach J.L. Genot, the person who writes the monthly commentary called Taking a Stand? I would like to share some information with him/her regarding the last article written about housing. Thank you in advance.
- G.M. Michaels, Naperville

Editor’s Note: J.L. Genot can be reached at editorial@glancermagazine.com, Attn: J.L. Genot. Your request / submission will be forwarded to her upon receipt. Thanks for reading!

RUSH STREET MEETS MAIN STREET
I was so excited to see that Jilly’s has arrived in downtown Naperville on Jackson. I have fond memories of going to Jilly’s downtown Chicago long ago. I look forward to the next girl’s night out...we’ve already decided that we’re going to Jilly’s!
- Caroline C., Cress Creek, Naperville

Editor’s Note: Thanks for reading! Jilly’s is a great addition to downtown Naperville. Actually, my girlfriend’s and I went there to celebrate the grand opening and had a great time. Be sure to get there early so you can snag a table-- it gets crowded. Have fun!

REC CENTER THANKS
Thank you for writing a positive article on the rec center.  Two local newspapers only seem to want to print negative things.  - Jonathan Bobb, CPA
Partner, McGovern & Greene LLP

WARMING CENTERS
“I was reading in your calendar last month a “Special Message from the City of Naperville” about warming centers throughout the city. I was so happy to see we offer this. Just because many of us are fortunate enough to have homes with heat, it doesn’t mean there aren’t residents out there who are in need of a warm place to go come wintertime. Thanks for making this known.”
- Anonymous, Naperville

WELLNESS FOR 60 AND BETTER
“Thank you so much for featuring an article for us old timers on where we can go to get (and stay) healthy in Naperville. Often too much influence it put on working out for the young and vibrant and not those who are senior citizens. I plan on signing up for the Tai Chi class come spring. I just had kneee surgery and am still recuperating, but once I’m better- look out world, here I come!”
- Margie B., Naperville

HUGE FAN
“I am a huge fan of The Naperville Glancer.  I think it is innovative, fun and informative.  I have been a Naperville resident for the past 18 years and everytime I pick up the Glancer I learn something new about Naperville!” - Kavita Chopra

LOVED YOUR WHEATON/
GLEN ELLYN MAGAZINE
Congratulations on launching a fabulous new
magazine!  As a professional writer, I was encouraged to read your request for reader input regarding "Stylish Residents."  When I think of the stylish residents I know, the real knock-outs are the ones who are beautiful on the outside, and the inside. I hope some of those I have are considered for future issues. Anyway, thank you so much for your time, and interest in reader input.  Your magazine is truly an asset to the community.  Congratulations again.  - Gina Kraman

LOOKS GREAT!
I saw the first Wheaton/Glen edition - it looks great! Congratulations and on thanks for bringing such a quality publication to our community.
- Kathleen Talenco, Glen Ellyn Park District

I REALLY ENJOYED THE CELEBRITY FEATURE
"What a great feature on Alan Krashesky. I never knew that my favorite news reporter (who I watch everyday, by the way) lives in the same town as me. And, like my husband and I, he has adopted children from China. It's wonderful!"
- Joy F., Naperville

THANK YOU!
"A BIG thanks for doing an issue on technology for old-fashioned people like myself. My kids keep telling me to get with the times and now I have so many resources that I can use to do so…..locally. Thanks again."
- Bridgette M., Naperville

ABOUT THAT FURNITURE ON THE JUNE COVER...
"I first want to congratulate you on a great magazine for Naperville. I often am skeptical about publications for Naperville because they are usually just glorified advertising supplements. This is different and I read every issue cover to cover. Thanks. What prompted me to write was the cover photo of the June issue. My wife and I love the furniture but couldn't find any reference to it in the magazine. Can you tell me if it's available locally? And if not, do you know how I can track down a retailer or the manufacturer?
Keep up the good work! - Thomas Gavin, Naperville

Editor's Note: Thanks for reading! I'm sorry we don't have any information on the actual furniture that was featured. However, Pottery Barn features a very similar (almost exact) outdoor furniture set - it's call their Chesapeake Sectional. It's on sale too at www.potterbarn.com Enjoy!

I THINK I KNOW THE ANSWER...
"Hi! I'm DiDi, The Program Director and afternoon host at 95.9 The River; a station for the burbs and from the burbs!  I just wanted to say hello and that I have been reading your magazine more as my husband and I just moved back to Naperville.  I grew up here and have been at 95.9 The River for over 3 years now.  We recently purchased a new home in Naperville and have been receiving the magazine....and I think I know the mystery photo this month....isn't it The River's Rockin' Dragon???!!

Editor's Note: "Hi Didi and welcome back! Yes indeed it is….keep watching for more great Mystery Photos. You can find this month's photo on page 65.

LOVE YOUR MAGAZINE!
"Hi! Love your magazine and my guests at the Harrison House Bed & Breakfast do also."
- Lynn Harrison, Harrison House B&B

A GREAT RESOURCE
“This issue was so different than the last few issues but just as resourceful...and entertaining! As a mom of 4, I loved reading about where to have a birthday party and all that the Park District has to offer. While we utilize it, I never knew how much more was available. Now I do! Thanks again.”– Adaline Cary, Naperville

THANK YOU!
“Thank you for your story featuring Naperville CARES Cuisine for a Cause.  I sincerely appreciated your kind attention to the topic.  Making the Calendar was great as well.  Thanks a million!” – Jeanne M. Buddingh, Buddingh & Associates, Inc.

HOPING YOU CAN HELP
“Several issues back my wife and I noticed an advertisement in your magazine for a person/company that performs custom painting on walls.  We can't seem to find the issue or the company and we would like to have someone give us an estimate on painting some clouds and scenery in our daughters room. Would you happen to know who the advertiser was or have a recommendation? Any help / guidance would be greatly appreciated.” – Bill Budig

Editor's Note: I believe the company you are looking for is Storybook Walls in Naperville. They can be contact at (630) 416-1506. Happy decorating and thanks for reading!

ENJOYED PORTRAITS
“I enjoyed reading about the three Naperville teens in your new feature PORTRAITS. I am looking forward to reading upcoming features. Will this always be about teens and kids or will you feature others as well? Just curious.” – Melinda S., Naperville

Editor’s Note: PORTRAITS will always feature local residents doing great things for our community, but it will not always be kids and teens. In fact, this issue we feature foster moms (page 19), in June we will feature father & son business teams....thanks for reading!

THE REACH IS INCREDIBLE
“Thank you for the nice article you ran about me in this month's issue.  The reach of your magazine is incredible!  I have heard from friends, neighbors, business associates and my stock broker.  My older daughter, who lives in New York City, even called to ask me about the article.  A friend of hers, who just moved to Naperville from San Diego, called her to tell her she had just read the story. You should be proud to publish such a beautifully written and designed – and well-read – publication! – Jini Clare, Clare Communications

MORE BOUTIQUES PLEASE!
“Thank you for your feature on boutiques in Naperville in the May Issue.  One thing that makes Naperville special is its unique downtown shopping.  It is nice to focus on these businesses, but so many were left out.  I would like to see more of these businesses featured.” – Sarah T.

Editor’s note: Keep an eye out for our new features this month- one of them is actually the “Boutique of the Month!” Don’t forget to send suggestions about which boutique we should feature next month.

I SHARED IT WITH MY HUSBAND
“Thank you for the fabulous issue on Moms and Mother’s Day- I “shared” the 7 spectacular mother’s day gift guide with my husband!  I don’t know yet if he took the hint- but either way I had fun reading.  I’m glad that you tackled the subjects of adoption and foster parenting in Naperville, since it usually doesn’t get much coverage.” – Kris Kracer

MORE PEOPLE, PLEASE?
“I always love reading the Naperville Glancer to see who I might recognize, or who I might know that’s one of your contest winners.  I keep hoping someday it will be me, but so far, no luck.  I would love to see more stories about people throughout the community, as their stories are so rarely told in the news.”  – W. M.

A SMOKE-FREE THANKS!
“I just want to thank you for dedicating space in your March issue of The Naperville Glancer regarding a Smoke-Free Napevrille.  I really appreciate your giving support to others in the Naperville community who would like to be out and about without having to encounter second-hand smoke in indoor public places.
Thank you for publishing the information and getting the word out on smoke-free dining establishments.” – Lynne Jele, www.smokefreenaperville.org

ONLINE SOMETIME SOON?
“I really enjoy the magazine. Thank you for sending it all these years. My question is, will you ever have the magazine online? Often, soon after my husband throws it in the recylcing, there is something inside I want to refer back to. If it were online, I could simply visit your website. This would be great!” – Jill Ames, Naperville

Editor’s note: We will have some archived features online in the coming months. We will also have a complete shopping and dining guide as well as special features that you will ONLY find on our web site.

We want to hear from you. Send your Letters to:
