IN NAPERVILLE: Naperville residents never do anything half-way. Whether it is a worthy cause or an annual celebration, the public is there. Given this level of civic commitment, it is not surprising to find that Naperville has answered the challenge of environmental responsibility in numerous ways. Citizens and city leaders have joined together to work towards protecting and sustaining the earth.

IN WHEATON/GLEN ELLYN: Wheaton and Glen Ellyn are talking the talk about being green but more importantly, both communities are walking the walk with green initiatives. Both towns are setting an example for residents by considering the environmental impact of each decision. The air and water for both communities is clearly an important issue today and tomorrow.

RECYCLE DAY IN NAPERVILLE: The city's popular one-day recycling program once again took place on Saturday, June 7 at Naperville North High School. Residents came out to donate electronics, books, scrap metal, cell phones, ink jet cartridges, flags, eyeglasses, hearing aids, keys and bicycles. THE FIRST ANNUAL PURPLE-TINI FUNDRAISER was held on May 22, 2008 at Two-Nine Martini Bar downtown Naperville. 100% of funds raised will benefit the Alzheimer's Association Greater Illinois Chapter Naperville Memory Walk which is taking place on September 28, 2008. JILLY'S FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION All we can say is "WOW! What a party."

Inside The Wheaton/Glen Ellyn Glancer:
2008 DUPAGE COUNTY RIVER SWEEP, a county-wide stream cleanup held during American Rivers Month, the first weekend in June. The purpose of the River Sweep is to encourage citizens and volunteer groups to help "sweep our rivers clean" by picking up debris in and along our waterways. Community liaisons and groups selected a section of stream and through their own coordination went out to remove litter from the area. We hope to see you there next year!
