CAFE/CATERING
2 Foodies Cafe
821 E. Chicago Avenue
Naperville (630) 357-6800
As sad as I was to learn that the Chef's Corner had closed, my first visit to 2 Foodies Cafe was delightful. The owners, Jorie and Donna, the foodie namesakes, are culinary creatives, evidenced by their enthusiasm and passion for elevating deli fare to a new level.
The café has a few small tables, as well as take out. The owners are planning to put in a counter, and when weather permits, they plan to utilize the picnic area for outdoor dining.
The menu features a range of sandwiches, paninis, seasonal soups, and salads. I tried the artichoke and mozzarella panini dressed with tomato and pesto. Yum. The sandwich was nice and cheesy and very flavorful. Bill's veggie sandwich had avocado, spinach, cukes, tomato, sprouts and bean spread, all served in a pita pocket. It was a fresh, tasty, and healthy choice.I also sampled a mac and cheeseball, a decadent little tidbit which I dunked in an excellent blue cheese sauce. As good as the sandwiches were, these delicacies alone were worth the trip. A definite must try.

SUSHI & CHINESE
Lu’s
579 Roosevelt Rd.,
Glen Ellyn, 630-858-8889
Lu’s extensive menu offers Chinese and Japanese fare. The restaurant itself is larger and more welcoming than you might expect from the rather bland exterior. We found service to be very quick and friendly, and wait time between ordering and the food arriving was minimal on our Friday night visit. We tried an appetizer special, scallion pancakes, which were light, crisp and a larger portion than we expected. Lu’s hand-pulled noodle soup is a spicy soup with a variety of seafood and pork. The flavor was outstanding. This would be a perfect soup to cure a head cold, too! The General Tso’s chicken was a delicious choice from the Chinese entrée section of the menu. The spiciness was not overwhelmingly hot and the portion was very generously sized. Our daughter loves the maki from Lu’s, and on this visit, she thoroughly enjoyed the white dragon. The presentation was fun, and the flavors were so fresh. If you do not want to dine in, carry out and delivery is available. Finally, our pharmacist friend, Craig, agrees with us that Lu’s is the prescription for diners with food sensitivities, as MSG is not used in their food preparation. -Laura & Stephen Price Price, Dining Critic
