Q. Is it possible to get allergy relief from chiropractic care?
People often believe that chiropractic care is only for treating back and neck pain, but there are other benefits, including allergy relief. Chiropractic care helps to keep the nervous system and the body functioning at its peak. Research has shown a direct link between the nervous system and the immune system.
The immune system can be compromised by problems with the nerves. When the immune system is not functioning properly, it may fail to fight infections, make the body more vulnerable to disease, fail to remove abnormal cells and overreact to things like dust, pet dander, pollen, certain foods and bee stings (to name a few). Allergic reactions are a type of immune disorder. Allergic reactions occur when the immune system overreacts to allergens and produces too many chemicals (histamines) to fight them.

This realignment releases stress on the patient’s nervous system, which allows the patient’s immune system to function more effectively. This helps the body work more effectively to neutralize the allergens.
